Firms involved in illegal exchange of foreign currency

DAMAK: 'Money Changer' and 'Transfers' firms established in various parts of the district have been found to be involved in the exchange of foreign currency without approval of the concerned authority.

Some traders were found to be doing business in the exchange of foreign currency without approval of Nepal Rastra Bank, the Cottage and Small Industry Office has said.

So far only 15 firms have taken approval for foreign currency exchange and transfer in Jhapa district, Chief of the Office, Krishna Bhandari said.

In Damak, the people involved in illegal exchange of foreign currency have increased all of a sudden with the rise in the number of Bhutanese refugees going to different countries for resettlement.
